SPACEPLATES PB43

Prags Boulevard 43 is a remarkable initiative. It is located just south of Copenhagen City Center on a 6400 m2 site made available free of charge by the landowner Azko Nobel. Since 2010 the buildings have been filled with creative entrepreneurs, artists, musicians and many others, housing in total about 150 people and hosting a wide range of cultural activities. In a city where gentrification has taken up speed and a large number of previously open spaces and initiatives has been taken over or even torn down by private market developments, PB43 is an important and inspiring place.

We have been working with PB43 to design a common building for their central open space. So far funding has not be possible, and PB43’s dynamic evolution will most likely result in other good initiatives taking over the area originally designated for a SPACEPLATES Structure, but I post some images anyway to show another potential use of the SPACEPLATES building system.

Note: in 2015 Azko Nobel regrettably sold Prags Boulevard 43 to an owner who plans to build a large storage facility on the site, and PB43 had to move to Nordhavn.
